How to get prepared to the photoshoot?

Preparation is everything for a professional portrait shoot

Here are some recommendations for preparing yourself for a professional portrait shoot:

1. Choose clothing which most represent the image you wanting to portrait. For instance: clothing for headshot, family or women shoot would vary.

2. Solid, soft or muted colours usually photograph best.

Avoid logos, bold patterns, neon and wrinkled clothes.

I personally prefer bright colours. If you know your complimentary colour choose them.

3. Choose clothes that flatter and fit your body type.

4. Make sure all clothes are clean and pressed.

5. Bring a couple different outfits, if you can’t choose. I will help you choose.

6. Simple accessories.

7. Glare free glasses are preferred.

8. If you feel it is time to have your hair trimmed, colour dark roots or styled do it before the shoot. This way you will have a fresh blow dry or professionally styled hair. If it is not necessary, don't worry just colour hair as your normally would.

9. Have natural make-up (or what ever you comfortable with). Moisturize well. Include lip gloss/moisturizer.

10. If you aren’t confident about creating your own striking look then you may want to consider the option of booking a hair and make-up artist. I can assist with this.

11. Have your nails tidy or manicured. Moisturize your hands.

12. Stay away from alcohol, even if it’s just the night before. Alcohol dehydrates you and you want to be sure that you’re looking your best when you step in front of the camera.

This is a very detailed list and don't get overwhelmed after reading all of this. If you are as many of us just don't have that extra hour for all above, just come as you are. I will sort you out (haha)

Main thing - try don't stress before the session, I will guide you though it as I have lots of experience oh and the most important thing is come well rested and in a good mood!
